Introducing the Flight Briefing in Air Navigation Pro iOS version 7.4

Introducing the Flight Briefing in Air Navigation Pro iOS version 7.4

In our previous version - Air Navigation Pro iOS version 7.2,  we have made slight enhancements in the app such as making the Scratchpad more accessible, developed a new way for users to easily publish an Advisory Activity and making the Aerodome Sheet accessible for everyone. All of these enhancements were made to maximize the app's functionality and to increase productivity in the cockpit.

Now we are back with a new version, with some additional user interface enhancements and another useful feature: the Flight Briefing.

Briefing

In this new version, preparing your flight is a breeze. We have developed a new way for you to organize your pre-flight preparation, with the new Flight Briefing. Now, all the necessary documents that you need in planning your flight is stored in one place. As soon as you're done requesting a briefing and creating a route, you can proceed to the next steps right away.

You can find in the Flight Briefing folder the files for the Weather, NOTAMs, Navigational Log, Weight and Balance, ATC Flight plan. Every bit of data that is linked to your route will be generated in each of these documents. When you tap on a category, it will open the file browser that displays the files that match the category that you selected. Every time you create and edit a document, all the changes you made will be automatically saved.

Weather Briefing

In the weather category, you can create a document consisting of the lists of all the weather stations that are found along your routes. You can create as many documents as you want for your routes. The stations are sorted depending on when you're going to reach it and you also have the option to add another station on your list.

Aside from the weather information, the wind and temperature on your waypoints can be seen as well in the document.

If you select a route from the Weather Briefing, you will see the list of weather stations that are found within. Aside from those weather stations, you can also add another station if you wish to. In the upper right portion beside the route name, is a button that allows you to rename the document.

If you tap on the PDF icon, it will open up a document that contains more detailed information about the weather stations and some associated data.

Here, you will see all the information about the Weather Briefing based on your route. You can double check if all the data are correct. If not, you can always go back and edit. Once completed, you can enable via the button "Document ready for flight". After enabling it, the document is locked and cannot be edited.

For this latest version, it is so much easier to save, share, and print the Weather Briefing document. You only need to tap the Share icon found on the lower left button at the bottom bar.

NOTAM Briefing

The menu to request a briefing is now moved in the NOTAM section in Briefing. You just need to create a new document, fill it out and then input your request.

If you click on the PDF icon, it will open the document that contains more detailed information about the NOTAMs. You can double check if all the data are correct. If not, you can always go back and edit it. Once completed, you can enable via the button "Document ready for flight". After enabling it, the document is locked and cannot be edited.

After receiving your NOTAMs report, you can also save it on your device, share, and print. Just tap the Share icon found on the lower left button at the bottom bar.

Getting a PDF document after every NOTAM request isn't the only thing you can do in the app. You can also display the NOTAMs on the moving map so it will be easier to see it as you navigate while flying.

Just go to the toolbar and tap on Maps. Go to NOTAMs, toggle on "Show NOTAMs on map".

Navigational Log

Operational Flightplan is required to ensure an aircraft meets all of the operational regulations for a specific flight, and the latest version has produced this feature to secure your pre-flight preparations.

You can find the Operational Flightplan or Navigational Log inside the Flight Briefing folder.

All files will be automatically generated in the Briefing based on the route created. Fuel consumption, speed, times and safe altitude for every leg in your route are being computed, to help you lessen your workload in pre-flight. If you want to get more accurate measurements, you can also check for more data on the internet.

If you tap on a Navigation log entry item, it will open the PDF document of the Navigational Log.

In the PDF, you will see all the information related to your Navigational Log. You can double check if all the data are correct. If not, you can always go back and edit it. Once completed, you can enable via the button "Document ready for flight". After enabling it, the document is locked and cannot be edited.

Once you have finalized all data, you can also save, share, and print the PDF. You only need to tap the Share icon found on the lower left button at the bottom bar.

Weight and Balance

In contrast to the other documents stored in Briefing, the Weight and Balance data is not based on your routes but instead, based on the current aircraft selected within the app.

In addition to the Flight Briefing, we also included some user interface enhancements in this new version. The aircraft selection previously located in Documents is now moved to the Flight Parameters section. This aims to provide a better menu while choosing the aircraft.

If you tap on the Flight Parameters, you will find the Aircraft Profile. You can create and update a document of an aircraft.

Fill in all the necessary fields about the registered aircraft.

Tap Weight and Balance to indicate all significant figures.

After filling out the needed information about your aircraft, open the Weight and Balance category under Flight Briefing folder for the completion of other data.

Tap "Create Document" to find the selected or current aircraft profile.

Input additional details and tap Calculate W&B to see the computation.

If you tap on that PDF icon, it will open the PDF document containing all the information in the Weight & Balance sheet. You can double check if all the data are correct. If not, you can always go back and edit it. Once completed, you can enable via the button "Document ready for flight". After enabling it, the document is locked and cannot be edited.

You also have the option to save, share and print your Weight & Balance document. Just tap on that Share icon found on the lower left button at the bottom bar.

ATC Flight Plan

This last category allows you to file for an ATC Flight Plan. You are provided with an ATC flight plan form in order to submit your request. As long as you have remaining ATC Flight Plan credits, you can send your request right away after you're done editing the document.

To view your request, tap on that PDF icon.

Here, you will see all the information that contains your request. You can double check if all the data are correct. If not, you can always go back and edit it. Once completed, tap the button "Send to ATC" below.

You also have the option to save, share and print your document by tapping on the Share icon on the bottom left.
